We are proud to announce our 2017-18 scholarship recipient: Clare Hillshafer!
Clare’s father accepted the scholarship on Clare’s behalf at our annual summer happy hour
Clare Hillshafer is an incoming Freshman at the University of Oklahoma. She is from Western Springs, Illinois and graduated from Lyons Township High School as a National Honors Society student with a 4.159 GPA. Clare played lacrosse in High School, starting for Varsity as a Freshman, and becoming Captain of her Varsity Lacrosse Team both Junior and Senior Year; she plans to join OU’s Lacrosse Club this year. Clare will be studying Engineering at OU and is already getting involved in several clubs around campus such as the Women in Engineering Club and the Improv Club. Clare is planning on taking advantage of the many internship and study abroad programs OU offers, exploring engineering internships and study abroad programs in a Spanish speaking country given her background studying Spanish all four years of high school.
“As a freshman engineering student from suburban Chicago, my choice to continue my education at OU was a big decision and I wasn’t sure what was to come when fall rapidly approached. Once I stepped foot on campus, it made me realize how grateful I am to have received this scholarship and be part of the OU family. The scholarship allows me to focus my time on my studies rather than my financial concerns. So far, I am having an amazing time here at OU. I have signed up for clubs and activities that I can’t wait to be involved in such as the Women in Engineering club and the Improv club. I have the chance to take classes that interest me and move forward towards my path of becoming an engineer. This scholarship is an invaluable aid towards helping me work towards a bright future I know I can attain from OU.”
